The International Macro Business Simulation Global Competition 2024 was a resounding success, bringing together over 60 teams from 27 universities across Thailand and 11 countries worldwide. The two-day event, held September 7-8, 2024, was a dynamic showcase of strategic thinking, decision-making, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
The competition kicked off on September 7 with an opening address by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Apisit Songsasen, Vice President for Academic Affairs and Lifelong Learning at Kasetsart University. Associate Professor Dr. Sasivimol Meeampol, Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration, followed with her insights and vision for the event, setting the tone for an inspiring and challenging day ahead.
Arthur Hsiao, CEO of GT Top-Boss Education, delivered an engaging talk about the MBS experience, emphasizing the realistic business challenges that participants would face and the importance of strategic thinking, decision-making, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. Mr. Supakit Nakarajou, Managing Director of GT Technology Ltd., then spoke about the importance of technology in modern business and education, highlighting the relevance of the skills being tested in the competition.
The morning session continued with a thought-provoking panel discussion on “AI: An Education Tool for Progress or Disruption.” Moderated by Mr. Gerald Lim, the discussion featured Associate Professor Dr. Bordin Rassameethes, former Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration and former Vice President of KU; Dr. Vasu Keerativutisest from King Mongkut; and Arthur Hsiao. The panel provided deep insights and sparked lively conversations among participants about the role of AI in shaping the future of education and business.
The competition officially began in the afternoon with the qualifying and spinning rounds. Over 60 teams dove headfirst into the simulated business challenges, setting the stage for an intense contest. The day’s events concluded with a welcome party dinner, allowing participants to network, unwind, and build connections that will last beyond the competition.
On September 8, the final day of the competition, the top 8 teams presented their MBS projects to a panel of distinguished judges: Miss Lalita Hongratanawong, Mr. Supakit Nakarajoupolm, Miss Chanapun Juangroongruangkit, and Mr. Ching Kwock Wing. Each team was scrutinized through a rigorous Q&A session and ranked based on their presentations and responses.
The closing program, expertly moderated by Mr. Gerald Lim, acknowledged the achievements of all participants. Consolation prizes were awarded to Walailak University, Chulalongkorn University, and Silpakorn University students. The fourth runner-up was Universitas Pembangunan Nasional Veteran Jakarta, while the third place went to a mixed team from Silpakorn University, Mahidol University International College (MUIC), and Chulalongkorn University. Chulalongkorn University secured the second place, and Chiangmai University earned a well-deserved first place. The grand champion title was awarded to the KU BBA International Program.
Following the awards ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Thamrongsak Svetalekth, Chairman of the Board of Directors, delivered a heartfelt closing speech. He thanked all the participants, sponsors, students, and staff for making the event a remarkable success, acknowledging the dedication, hard work, and collaboration that made the competition possible.
The International Macro Business Simulation Global Competition 2024 was more than just a contest – it was a testament to the power of education, collaboration, and innovation.
